Levelland [Points of Scale]
About the Artist:
Born in Preston, Lancashire, England, Wood left school at age 16 and became apprenticed to his father, also named Harold Wood, a painter. It was in his father's studio that he learned the skills of fine painting, and many techniques of applied arts.
Wood arrived in the United States in 1978 to complete a mural of Arabic life in a Boeing 707 for the Dee Howard Company of San Antonio, Texas. This exposure to a new world of aircraft interiors led to his total fascination for applied arts to be incorporated into these interiors.
Wood then founded the former Aviart Ltd, and for 22 years was working owner of this small company specializing in the development of all types of decorative surfaces which included all aspects of an aircraft interior. Wood sold the former Aviart Ltd in 2000 and embarked on his current venture, Harold J. Wood and Company.
Harold J. Wood and Company is a studio workshop showroom art gallery complex, working to take all the lessons learnt at Aviart, and his experiences over the many years in the arts, and apply it to personal expression, painting, and furniture.
