Tinka Tarver: Book Signing and Artist Talk
On the evening of Thursday, August 18th, San Antonio artist and Renaissance-woman Tinka Tarver will be signing her new book, entitled Art in My Life, My Life in Art, and giving a short artist talk on her work. The event will start at 6:30 pm, with a short artist talk at 7:00 pm. Books will be available for purchase on the evening of the event for $30 ($24 for current Blue Star Members).
From the Author:
My life has been a dance - in the words of the famous dancer, Carla de Sola, "making visible the invisible movements of the spirit."
It is a dance that's in my genes. I have a long line of artists before me in my family - my mother, two grandmothers and a father who was an architect. Naturally I married an artist.
This call to create is both a gift and a burden. I hear a small voice saying, "Here I am. Enflesh me. Give me birth." (Madeleine L'Engle, "Walking on Water") Then it is my responsibility to respond or pay a price of losing part of me and of giving a gift into the world.
This is only a small glimpse of what I have done, but maybe you can see me in it, and know that whatever I have given has come from my heart and soul.
