Join us at Blue Star as we celebrate the openings of three new exhibitions in honor of FOTOSEPTIEMBRE: "You appear to me to be someone whose life is meaningless.", This is not a photo show, and Kathy Drive.
Middle Gallery: "You appear to me to someone whose life is meaningless." features portraits of survivors of domestic abuse, photographed by Kathy Coiner and curated by Chuck Ramirez.
Project Space: This is not a photo show is a collaborative exhibition between Blue Star Contemporary Art Center and Unit B (Gallery). The exhibition will be shown in two parts, with openings at Blue Star on September 2 and at Unit B on September 3. This exhibition features work from Ben Aqua, William Betts, Helen Maurene Cooper, Thomas Cummins, Michael Eddy, Matthew Noel-Tod, and Yumi Janairo Roth, and is curated by Kimberly Aubuchon.
Gallery 4: Kathy Drive is a collection of new work by local artist Kemp Davis, influenced by his childhood on San Antonio's southside.
The opening reception for these exhibitions will run from 6 to 9 pm on the evening of Thursday, September 2, with many of the exhibiting artists in attendance. As always, this event is free and open to the public.
